This campaign aim to educate younger generation especially those living in coastal area about important of seagrass bed and how they can help to protect them from further destruction.
Selected 30 secondary school student from SMK Pulau Gaya will participant in this program.
It start with talk by Assoc. Prof Dr. John Barry Gallagher about seagrass, its function and role, how it affecting our life, climate, how we can protect and conserve them.
Program follow by boat ride on glass bottom boat to explore nearby seagrass meadow and learn basic monitoring activities.
Hopefully through this program students are more aware about important of seagrass which related to their daily life.
SMK Pulau Gaya
The aim of this program is to gather information on the state of the coral bleaching along Kg. Koduko, Kota Belud coastal areas and to provide information and awareness about coral bleaching to the community. Apart from diving to monitor the corals, water quality analysis was also done on several spots along the coastal areas. Short talk on ‘Water Safety’ was also delivered to the community.

The main objectives of the program were to expose the children with the underwater world and to instill the interest to love and appreciate the ocean. 30 children aged 7-12 years old from various primary schools around Kota Kinabalu participated in this competition. All children were provided with a colouring paper and a colouring kit each. Participation certificate was also given to all the children at the end of the program.

Five legendary Pinoy open-water athletes will swim together to promote the protection of the Verde Island Passage (VIP) and educate the public about the need to conserve Philippine coral reefs.
World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Hero of the Environment Atty. Ingemar Macarine, Frank Lacson, Betsy Medalla, Julian Valencia and Moi Yamoyam shall swim approximately 15 kilometers across the coves of Hamilo Coast in the Philippine province of Batangas this May 29 for Reef Strokes, an event to celebrate Coral Triangle Day and highlight the dangers of plastic pollution and climate change on the Verde Island Passage, dubbed as the center of the center of marine shorefish biodiversity.
Reef Strokes is organized by WWF, Hamilo Coast, Pico Sands Hotel, Pico de Loro Beach and Country Club and Cebu Pacific Air.

The Philippines' focal activity for this year's Coral Triangle Day Celebration is a Science Camp from June 6 to June 12, 2016 at White Beach, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro. It brings together twenty (20) students from various parts of the country who participated and won during the facebook trivial quiz contest during the Month of the Ocean (MOO 2016).
This year's module is aligned with the theme of the CT Day 2016: "Save Coral Triangle - Stop Plastic Pollution/Waste" focusing on Ocean Processes and Marine Ecosystems. The camp includes various sub-activities including lectures, fellowships, and coastal clean-ups for the students.
Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro
Initiated by Manengkel Solidaritas (a North Sulawesi-based NGO), Marine Partnership Consortium of North Sulawesi (Mitra Bahari) and The Alliance of Independent Journalists from Manado, a mangrove planting activity was conducted in Bahowo, the northern most region of Manado.
Manado is the capital city of North Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. Bahowo area is the only area with mangrove vegetation as the other areas have been inundated with land reclamation. However, the mangrove vegetation in this region is under threatened as many people activities around the region. The event is purposed to build people’s care for their environment, in particular, for mangrove ecosystem in their area.

A press conference to announce the results of the first ever Reef Health Monitoring Survey that covers the entire Bali island, including Nusa Penida Marine Protected Area. The survey results are the latest data that highlight which areas in Bali still have healthy coral reefs and abundant fish biomass as well as the areas that are threatened. It also includes recommendations on how to better sustain and protect Bali’s coral reef and marine ecosystems.
The press conference will be on June 8, 2016, in conjunction with World Oceans Day and Coral Triangle Day. It will be held at the CTC office in Sanur, Bali.
