A Beach cleanup event was organised by the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management & Meteorology. This was done as a build up event towards the celebration of the World Environment Day, World Oceans Day and the Coral Triangle Day 2015. Volunteers came from Solomon Islands National University, Youth@Work, NGOS ( WorldFish), UN-Habitat, Ministry of Fisheries, Honiara City council and the community members for the two communities. Partners who sponsored the event included UNDP Solomon Islands.
Tools were officially handed over to communities after the clean-up by the Ministry. At least 7 tonnes of rubbish (more than 50% PET bottles and plastics) were collected at the two sites. Communities were encouraged to keep their beaches clean.

The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology in collaboration with the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources and Youth@Work will be hosting a public event day. The World Environment Day, World Oceans Day and Coral Triangle Day will be nationally marked on the 5th of June 2015.
There will be public official speeches, school competitions, song and dance and mascot competitions under the environmental themes, ocean themes and the coral triangle theme. Government agencies, private sector, NGOs, schools, youths. Information and display booths by FFA, Ministry of Fisheries, TNC, Wildlife exporters, UNDP, recyclables etc will be part of the eventful day. Kids will have games and other interesting activities around nature and its resources.

Arakan villagers in South Minahasa celebrate the Coral Triangle Day with the theme: The sea is not a garbage dump, let us protect it for future generations (Laut bukan tempat sampak marikita lata jaga dan lestarikan). Activities include mangrove planting, coloring contest for children, seaweed culture and pearl culture showcases, and government sponsorship of fisheries and livelihood packages for women groups and local beneficiaries. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and the Coral Triangle Initiative - Southeast Asia project organized the event.

On June 8-11, 2015, the Reef Fish Recovery Project of the Coastal Conservation and Education - Silliman University Institute of Environmental and Marine Sciences led by Dr. Aileen Maypa, with funding support from the Foundation for the Philippine Environment and Unico Conservation Foundation, Australia, is conducting field monitoring and biodiversity assessments of at least three rehabilitated marine protected areas (MPAs) in Lazi, Siquijor and Enrique Villanueva in the province of Siquijor, Philippines. The monitoring team is composed of CCEF Staff, SU-IEMS students and representatives from the local community and government of Siquijor.

To raise awareness on the consequences of ocean trash, the Coral Triangle Initiative - Southeast Asia (CTI-SEA) project in the Philippines is happy to join the International Coastal Cleanup movement in celebration of the Coral Triangle Day on June 9.
The six municipalities of the Dumanquillas Bay Protected Seascape and Landscape (DBPLS) will conduct a simultaneous bay wide beach cleanup. This will be followed by short lectures and fun games on June 10 in Margosatubig to learn how ocean trash and climate change affect marine wildlife and humans, and what is being done to address these. Both of the events are open to anyone living near or within the DBPLS.
Interested volunteers may contact their local government offices or CTI-SEA for more information.

As part of their CT Day 2015 celebrations, WWF-Pacific Fiji office will take part in a Coral replanting/Fish house building and beach cleanup activity with our Sustainable Seafood hotel partner, Shangri-la Fijian Resort and Spa. The activities will be held at and around the hotel premises. The day's activities will also include staff from the hotel and the staff from the Sigatoka Sand Dunes.

Annual event by the Penang Green Council aiming to create awareness and develop interest among the public towards a greener and more sustainable living. WWF-Malaysia is participating to increase awareness and demand on responsible seafood sourcing and sustainable seafood.
The “Citizen Science Outreach Program on Climate Change Adaptation for the Tourism Industry” is an awareness event for the Sutera Harbour (SHGCC/SHG Sdn Bhd.) staffs and public on the impact of climate change on the marine biodiversity. SHGCC/SHG Sdn Bhd. will become the first member of the tourism industry to implement this awareness and outreach programme on climate change and marine biodiversity. At the same time and in line with practicing sustainable conservation in the tourism industry, BMRI, UMS will engage in a transfer of knowledge with SHGCC/SHG Sdn Bhd. on the importance of continuous water quality monitoring to ensure that the waters surrounding the resort is kept within the acceptable standards of good water quality and also on the species identification of marine biodiversity available around the resort bay area.
